Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about working with a food and product photographer in London — based in South London, shooting across the whole city.
Where are you based, and which areas of London do you cover?
I'm based in South London, in Dulwich, and I shoot across the whole of Greater London — from East Dulwich, Herne Hill and Peckham to central London studios and further afield when a project calls for it. Being local to South London means I can often turn around shoots for nearby restaurants, cafés and food brands quickly and cost-effectively, but London-wide bookings are just as welcome.
Do you shoot in a studio, on location, or both?
Both. I work on location — at your restaurant, kitchen, or brand's premises — as well as in a studio setting, depending on what suits the shoot. On-location shoots are great for capturing a restaurant or café's real atmosphere; studio setups give more control over lighting and background for product and packaging work. We'll figure out what's right for your project when you get in touch.
What's the difference between food photography and product photography?
Food photography focuses on dishes, drinks and culinary presentation — think restaurant menus, cookbooks and recipe content, where styling, steam, texture and freshness matter most. Product photography is generally about packaged goods — bottles, jars, skincare, retail items — shot cleanly for e-commerce, packaging design or marketing. Many of my clients need a mix of both, especially food and drink brands that sell a packaged product alongside prepared dishes.
How much does food or product photography cost in London?
It depends on the scope: number of images, whether styling and props are needed, shoot length, and usage/licensing requirements all affect the price. Rather than quote a generic day rate that may not reflect your actual project, I put together a custom quote once I understand what you need — get in touch with a brief and I'll come back to you with clear pricing.
How long does it take to receive the final images?
Turnaround depends on the size of the shoot and how much retouching is involved. I'll confirm a specific delivery timeline with you before the shoot so there are no surprises — if you have a hard deadline (a menu launch, a press date), let me know upfront and I'll work around it.
Can you help with food styling, or do I need to arrange that separately?
Food and prop styling can be included — it's one of the things we'll discuss when scoping your shoot. Whether you need full styling support or already have a stylist and just need the photography, either works.
Do I get full usage rights to the final images?
Licensing and usage rights (web, print, social, advertising, exclusivity) are agreed as part of the quote, since different projects need different terms. This gets confirmed clearly upfront before any shoot, so you know exactly what you can do with the images.
What kind of clients do you work with?
Restaurants and hospitality brands, independent and artisanal food & drink producers, product and packaging brands, and food/lifestyle publications — from small independent cafés in South London to larger commercial clients across the city. If you're unsure whether your project is a fit, just ask.
How do I book a shoot?
Head to the contact page and send a brief — what you need photographed, roughly when, and any deadlines. I'll get back to you with availability and a quote.
